Can I put a smart lock on a sliding or security screen door?

We have an aluminium security screen and a sliding back door. Are there smart lock options for these, or only standard doors?
These are trickier than a standard hinged door. Sliding doors and aluminium security screens usually do not take a normal deadbolt-style smart lock, because the frame and locking mechanism are different. Options include purpose-made sliding-door smart locks, retrofit modules designed for the specific mechanism, or securing the opening a different way (for example a smart lock on the primary hinged door behind the screen). Measure the stile width and check the existing lock type carefully, and if in doubt, a locksmith can advise what will physically mount.

Standard deadbolt locks usually will not fit sliders or security screens. Look for purpose-made sliding-door locks or secure the hinged door behind the screen. Measure the stile and ask a locksmith.
Ended up smart-locking the main timber door and leaving the screen on its existing latch. Simpler than fighting the aluminium frame.
