Should I install it myself or hire a locksmith?

I am reasonably handy. Is a smart lock a genuine DIY job, or should I just pay a locksmith?
If you are replacing a standard single-cylinder deadbolt on a common hinged door, most people can do it with a screwdriver in 20–40 minutes by following the template. Take your time aligning the bolt so the door does not bind, and test the mechanical key and manual operation before relying on the app. Call a locksmith if your door has a mortice lock, a multi-point system, an unusual thickness, or if you are cutting a new bore — those jobs need the right tools and experience to avoid damaging the door.

DIY is realistic for a standard deadbolt swap (screwdriver, 20–40 min). Get a locksmith for mortice/multi-point locks, odd thicknesses or new bores.
Straightforward swap on our Coomera new-build. The alignment step is the bit to be patient with.
